What are Soy Nuts?
Soy "nuts"
are simply whole roasted soy beans!
That's a very common question...
People often mistakenly think the soy "nut" is a special
part of the soy bean. In fact, it's not a "nut" at all.
It's simply the whole soybean that has been soaked in water, dried
and roasted. But because of their delicious nutty flavor and crunchy
nut texture, someone clever called them soy nuts
-- and the name stuck!
The really good news is that instead of grinding soy beans up for
flour, squishing them for milk, or extracting portions of the bean
for powders and various other soy products, with soy nuts you get
the whole bean - just as Mother Nature designed
it.
Once you've turned the beans into soynuts, you can then do all
sorts of great things with 'em - add yummy fun favors, cover them
in chocolate or dip 'em in yogurt. Or even combine them with other
goodies like raisins, cranberries or sunflower seeds to make a delightful
snack mix.
